Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

1. Information We Collect

JoltCall (“we,” “our,” or “the App”) collects the following categories of information to provide and improve the fake video call prank experience:

  • Contacts Permission Data: When you grant the Contacts permission, the App reads your device's contact names and photos to display them as caller identities during prank calls. Contact data is processed locally on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.
  • Camera Access: The App accesses your device's front-facing camera to display a live picture-in-picture (PiP) overlay during simulated video calls. Camera footage is not recorded, stored, or transmitted.
  • Media Files: If you create custom callers, the App accesses photos or images you select from your device's media storage. These files are stored locally and are not uploaded.
  • Advertising Data: Our advertising partner, Google AdMob, may collect device identifiers (such as the Advertising ID), IP address, and general location data to serve personalized or non-personalized advertisements. This data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Purchase Data: When you subscribe to JoltCall Premium, our payment processor RevenueCat collects transaction information, subscription status, and anonymized purchase identifiers. We do not have access to your full payment card details.
  • Crash and Performance Data: We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports, stack traces, and device information (model, OS version, app version) to diagnose and fix bugs. This data is anonymized and does not include personally identifiable information.
  • Analytics Data: We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized usage data including app opens, feature usage frequency, screen views, and session duration. This helps us understand how users interact with the App and improve the experience.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected for the following purposes:

  • To provide the core fake video call prank functionality, including displaying contact names and photos as caller identities.
  • To display the live camera PiP overlay during simulated calls for a realistic experience.
  • To serve advertisements through Google AdMob to support the free version of the App.
  • To process and manage Premium subscriptions through RevenueCat.
  • To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve app stability using Firebase Crashlytics.
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve features using Firebase Analytics.
  • To respond to user support requests sent to support@joltcall.app.
  • To comply with applicable legal obligations.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following third-party service providers, which are essential to the App's functionality:

  • Google AdMob (advertising): Collects device identifiers, IP address, and interaction data for ad serving and measurement. Google Privacy Policy
  • RevenueCat (subscription management): Processes subscription transactions and manages entitlements. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
  • Firebase (Google) (analytics and crash reporting): Collects anonymized crash data, usage analytics, and performance metrics. Firebase Privacy Policy

Each third-party provider processes data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review these policies for detailed information about their data practices.

4. Permissions We Request

JoltCall requests the following device permissions. All permissions are optional and the core app functionality works without them:

  • CAMERA: Used to display a live picture-in-picture overlay of your front camera during simulated video calls. The camera feed is never recorded or transmitted.
  • READ_CONTACTS: Used to import contact names and photos from your device so they can appear as realistic caller identities. Contact data is processed locally and never uploaded.
  • READ_MEDIA_IMAGES: Used to access photos from your device gallery when creating custom caller profiles. Selected images are stored locally within the app.
  • INTERNET: Used to load advertisements, process in-app purchases, send crash reports, and sync analytics data.
  • VIBRATE: Used to simulate a realistic incoming call vibration pattern when a scheduled prank call triggers.
  • RECORD_AUDIO: Used for the Voice Recorder feature (coming soon), which allows users to record custom voice messages for prank calls. Audio recordings are stored locally on the device.

5. Data Retention

JoltCall stores user-generated data (custom callers, call history, app settings, and preferences) locally on your device using SharedPreferences and local storage. This data persists until you clear the app data, uninstall the app, or manually delete it within the app settings.

Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data is retained on Google's servers for a maximum of 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. Advertising data retention is governed by Google AdMob's data retention policies. RevenueCat retains subscription data for the duration of your subscription and as required for billing, refund, and legal compliance purposes.

6. Children's Privacy

JoltCall is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information as quickly as possible.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@joltcall.app so we can take appropriate action.

7. App Tracking Transparency (iOS)

On iOS 14.5 and later, JoltCall complies with Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. When you first launch the App on an iOS device, you will be presented with a system prompt asking for permission to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites.

If you choose “Allow Tracking,” Google AdMob may use your Advertising Identifier (IDFA) to serve personalized advertisements. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track,” the App will serve non-personalized advertisements only, and your IDFA will not be accessed.

You can change your tracking preference at any time by going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your iOS device.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. Since most data is stored locally on your device, you can access it directly through the App's settings.
  • Right to Delete: You can delete all locally stored data by clearing the App's data in your device settings or by uninstalling the App. For server-side data (analytics, crash logs), contact us at support@joltcall.app to request deletion.
  • Right to Opt-Out: You can opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting your device's advertising settings (Android: Settings > Google > Ads; iOS: Settings > Privacy > Tracking). You can opt out of analytics by disabling analytics in the App's settings.
  • Right to Withdraw Permissions: You can revoke any granted permission (Camera, Contacts, Media, Microphone) at any time through your device's system settings. Revoking a permission will disable the corresponding feature but will not affect the App's core functionality.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@joltcall.app. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

9. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the data processed by JoltCall. These measures include:

  • All network communications use HTTPS/TLS encryption.
  • Sensitive data (such as subscription tokens) is stored securely using platform-native secure storage mechanisms.
  • We minimize data collection to only what is necessary for the App's functionality.
  • Third-party SDKs (AdMob, RevenueCat, Firebase) are kept up to date with the latest security patches.

However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or third-party service providers. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
  • Display a notice within the App informing you of the change.
  • If the changes are significant, we may request renewed consent where required by applicable law.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your data.
